When we went to Gramma D's house (I use "Gramma M" and "Gramma D" for Gramma for my mom's side and my dad's side) today, I brought my ultimate boredom killer, my iPod.
My iPod is a junky old iPod 4th generation with a rubber blue case.
Anyway, when I brought my iPod, it was dead but I thought I could just charge it at Gramma D's house. I plugged it in but my iPod wouldn't charge. I wasn't panicking yet so I took out the outlet and I plugged it back in. No charge, NOW I was freaking out.
Luckily, Gramma D was good-hearted, so she brought a big ol' box in the living room marked 'Comuter Desk Junk' and that surprised me, because I didn't even know she HAD a computer. We looked in and I found webcams for Windows Vista, an old computer mouse, and a bunch of cords and outlets. I was too upset to help Gramma D so this is what our situation looked like:
After I felt guilty of letting a 59 year-old grandmother look for a new cord and/or outlet, I decided to do it myself.
There were a LOT of cords that looked NOTHING like an iPod charger. I looked and looked but found nothing.
Suddenly, I found a really, really old outlet that looked like it didn't work anymore. I tried putting it back in the box, but Gramma D snatched it out of my hands and put my iPod cord in it.
Of course, nothing happened. But my grandma was not the type of person to give up. She pushed the outlet into the iPod more and more so I thought she would break it. I watched.
Honestly, I thought we looked like doctors performing surgery:
Then, as if God smiled down on me, my iPod was actually CHARGING.
Gramma D was so happy, it looked like she would dance the Cupid Shuffle.
She told me not to touch and leave it alone. But, I'm not that person to leave stuff alone so, when Gramma D left, I unplugged it.
It never charged again after that.
